Reluctant Smuggler (To Catch a Thief) Book Three – Virtual Book Tour
January 30, 2008
It’s been a long time since I’ve read a fiction book. I read one by Ted Dekker a few years ago and even a few years before that, I read one by Frank Perretti. It’s not often that I have the leisure time of reading something simply for fun.
This particular paperback, the Reluctant Smuggler caught my attention with the cover art picture showing bright beams of light on two dark figures. I expected it to be scary and it had its moments where I was on edge hoping Desi and Tony would be okay!
The author depicts each and every scene with great detail painting vivid pictures in the readers mind.
This book is captivating and full of suspense, love, mystery and faith. It is obvious the author loves and understands a lot about art.
The story is interesting and the characters are believable. I’m glad I had the opportunity to read Reluctant Smuggler by Jill Elizabeth Nelson. In this world of dealing with light and darkness everyday, I found it to be encouraging.

Skin crawling!
January 15, 2008
My skin was crawling recently as I sat through a church service listening to a pastor teach untruths.
It was so difficult to sit still. My heart wanted to walk out. My brain told me that wasn’t the right thing to do.
I am so saddened that there’s a group of people gathered three times each week to listen to a pastor who is leading the “flock” astray. I also realize it is not just this church that I was visiting. There’s many churches out there with leadership not teaching the truth.
It is heart-breaking to me to realize that there’s a lot of people, within the United States that may sit in a church every week or visit it on holidays and yet never know of Jesus Christ.

I often get asked, “what’s it like to be married to a comedian?” That has got to be my most frequently asked question!
In a few short days, we’ll celebrate our 20th anniversary together. WOW! Time flies!
Before he became a comedian, he had a successful career in radio working in areas such as Tampa FL, Chicago IL, Columbus OH and my personal favorite – Parkersburg WV!
So, what is it like to be married to a comedian? My standard answer that I give people is: “There’s NO dull moments”; said with a laugh.
There’s really a lot of truth to that statement. Living with this squeaky clean comedian who does corporate comedy, clean comedy and comedy in churches does provide a life with no dull moments. Marty Daniels is a comedian who also happens to be a Christian so he does a lot of comedy in churches although his comedy is not about his “faith”.
I am involved with his comedy career by helping to book him into events, prepare contracts, collect deposits and other behind the scenes administrative stuff that has to be done.
So, when I say there’s no dull moments, I really mean, there’s no dull moments! There’s a lot of behind the scenes work that has to be done before ever arriving at an event. There’s additional behind the scenes work that has to be done after arriving at an events. I attend MOST of his events with him and I help work at his merchandise table and help assist him with Compassion International children sponsorships.
There’s also NO dull moments in our life because Marty is very spontaneous, full of life, adventure and fun. He rarely slows down and a quiet evening of relaxation would involve having a house filled with our favorite people in this world and lots of great food and conversation.
So, what’s it like to be married to THIS comedian? Absolutely wonderful! He realizes the efforts I put into helping him. He is very considerate to me and to others. He’s a DOG lover so he’s gotta be okay! We live a simple life and add as much green to our lives as we can. We enjoy life, embrace moments and really live!
